Three new affiliated professors

We welcome three new affiliated professeurs. They followed with Mr. McKinnon a formation internship for teaching the McKinnon method, including the 1st degree in the musical formation program recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’enseignement supérieur du Québec.

Frédéric Jacques, from St-Alfred de Beauce, currently studies classical guitar in the class of the Claude McKinnon. Since two years, he is the artistic director of the “Rock Jam La Renaissance” festival of Beauceville. He teaches in private.

Martin Egan, from Châteauguay, has a baccalaureate in popular music from Université du Québec à Montréal. He has an impressive guitarist roadmap : director, conductor and composer for many shows and tv shows on TVA and Radio-Canada channels. Since 2007, he teaches classical and popo guitar at Jocelyne Laberge music school, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

Olivier Guilmette, from St-Georges de Beauce, is currently pursuing a baccalaureate in music teaching at Université Laval. He has experience in teaching guitar in private and in different primary schools in the region of Beauce.

Jean-Victor Paris-Laflamme wins first place of the Canadian Music Competition

Congratulations to Jean-Victor Paris-Laflamme, 14 years old!

During the finals of the national Canadian Music Competition that was held June 27th in Studio Assuraction Pepin Assurance at Desjardins arts house in Drummondville, Jean-Victor obtained a grade of 90%, and obtained a gold medal (1st place)!. He presented Serenade for Guitar and Strings of Arnold Malcolm, in an arrangement for guitar and piano. The pianist was Esther Bureau.

Jean-Victor is a student in the class of Daniel Langlois. Congratulations Jean-Victor!


A great experience for Frédéric Jacques

Saturday, June 18th 2016, was held the Peace in the Field festival, at Ste-Sabine in the Bellechasse county. Frédéric performed in a classical guitar concert during the afternoon. His program was composed of pieces of Robert Jonhson, Johann Sebastian Bach, Mattéo Carcassi, Francisco Tarrega, Maximo-Diego Pujol and Claude Mckinnon. He liked his experience. The public enjoyed, and Frédéric was asked to come back next year!

Canadian Music Competition

Congratulations to Jean-Victor Paris-Laflamme, from Daniel Langlois’ class!

May 19th 2016, the provincial finals of the competition were held at Université du Québec à Montréal. Jean-Victor obtained a mean grade of 85.16%, and qualifies to the national finals, which will be held at Drummundville in June. Here are the presented pieces:«Prélude, Sarabande et Gigue»  of the Suite in D major of Jean-Sebastien Bach, and «Sept Étoiles» suite of Claude McKinnon.

During the finals, Jean-Victor will present « Sérénade » of Malcolm Arnold.

Concert / Guitar 2.0 – Scholarships

During April 24th’s Concert / Guitare 2.0 in the proceedings of its 35th foundation anniversaty, the SGCM gave two $100 scholarships.

The winners of the random draw are Fabrice Fecteau-Tremblay (10 years old) from the class of Daniel Langlois in Beauceville, and Paul Caron-Plaisance (13 years old) of the class of Lise Lavoie, from Québec.
